Flu Vaccinations Autumn/Winter 2020

We are still busy booking appointments for flu vaccinations.

Due to Covid-19 we are running our flu clinics slightly differently this year, with enhanced safety measures and social distancing, to minimise the risk to both your health and ours.

Our second vaccine delivery for the over 65 age group arrived on 16th October, but we are not due to receive the vaccine for the Under 65 at risk group until the end of October at the earliest. We will continue dedicated vaccination clinics, primarily on Saturdays, throughout the autumn season.

All clinics will continue to be by appointment only, managed by a bookings team via a dedicated telephone line, separate to our main surgery number.  Please try to avoid contacting our reception team to book or enquire about a flu vaccination; bear in mind they are trying to deal with patients who require medical assistance and also they may not have access to the flu clinic appointment schedules.

We are experiencing a higher than usual demand for vaccinations this year and so we have tried to ensure that patients in the highest risk groups received an invite and were/will be vaccinated first.  We have sent invitations via email and/or text message to those eligible patients who have given us permission to do so.  For those who haven't, a letter has been sent via Royal Mail.

We are now able to offer flu vaccinations to the 50-64 age group.  We will be holding a further clinic on Saturday 12th December. Invitations will be going out very soon. Appointments can be requested via our Flu Line: 01794 885275 Monday to Friday between 09:00 & 16:00. We anticipate that the line will be very busy, so please bear with us

GP Practice based Clinical Pharmacist

Job Type:       Permanent

Salary:            Competitive and negotiable depending on experience

Whiteparish Surgery is a rural dispensing practice with 6,700 patients. We are looking for a forward thinking practice based pharmacist, preferably with previous experience of working in primary care, to develop and manage medicines optimisation services within our practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a role within the Practice. This includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions and advice for those on multiple medicines.  The role is pivotal to improving the quality of care and ensuring patient safety.

Having a clinical pharmacist in post means that GPs can focus their skills where they are most needed, for example on diagnosing and treating patients with more complex conditions. This helps GPs to manage the demands on their time.

The successful candidate will have a post-graduate diploma or higher degree in

Clinical Pharmacy, and will be an independent prescriber or working towards this.
